As a final side-note, Zoom is free for 40 minutes on group calls, but you can schedule as many meetings as you like. If you need to make longer calls, or if you need something that can host more than people, you might need to fork out for one of the payment plans.

There are a few video conferencing options you can choose from, but "Zoom" is probably our favourite. Read this guide on how to join your first Zoom meeting. Zoom is a video conferencing tool which allows anyone with a meeting link usually sent by email or WhatsApp to join the call, without needing to set up an account.
If you scroll further down the page you can also download the apps for your smartphone or tablet. Once you're in the meeting, learn how to see everyone on Zoom in the grid format. You don't need to install any extra software to join or even host a Zoom meeting.
You can do it all through a web browser. Again, depending on the meeting's set-up, you may enter the meeting right away, you may need to wait for the host to arrive first or you may be placed into a waiting room that the host controls. Google Chrome should automatically download the file and point to it as shown above.
Just before entering the meeting you will be prompted to enter a display name. This name is simply to identify you in the meeting and is not connected to your University username. You will then be prompted how you wish to join your audio.

Interestingly, Zoom also comes with a quick sign-in feature for mobile users. So, if someone participating in your call doesn't have Zoom, they can quickly call the Zoom number and Zoom will automatically get them in by inputting their meeting ID and other information without any delay.
If you get an invite from a Zoom user and you don't happen to be one, you can easily join via phone in the manner outlined above. You can also download a thin client for Zoom in your browser that allows you to join meetings via video. Since you already have the Zoom app downloaded to your device, you can also use that app to input the Meeting ID supplied by the host to quickly join.
Zoom also creates unique URLs for each of its meetings to easily get to where you need to go.
